The biggest threats to your PC are always swimming through the web, making internet security a huge priority for any computer owner. Trend Micro has many proactive tools in place that search for Web threats and warns you before the threat has a chance to become a serious issue. Some of the main threats Trend Micro is able to detect and prevent are bots, Trojans, worms, hackers, keyloggers, and more. You’re even able to dictate how sensitive you want the protection level to be.
We especially liked how a warning popped up when we were on the Web alerting us if we were about to visit an unsafe page. Trend Micro also blocked sites that appear to be involved in phishing scams, in addition to blocking sites known for inappropriate or illegal activity. This feature also goes through your inbox and purges it of unsolicited advertisements or spam.
With Trend Micro Internet Security Pro you get a few additional features which serve as superb PC Utility Tools. The first is a security activity dashboard which reports what areas of your computer have been scanned and which are currently being affected by malware. The Pro Features section also houses Trend Micro’s system tuner and works to improve the performance of your computer and provides a list of changes to remedy existing problems.
The Pro Features section offers a few other tools designed to enhance your system’s protection and backup important files. Although these are nice features—and frankly ones we’d expect from any Premium Security Suite—they are only available through the Pro version of Trend Micro Internet Security.
Remote File Lock in the Pro Features section is an adequate file protection, or backup source for your files. This feature allows you to lock sensitive files in a vault folder. This file can only be accessed by password to ensure your information is safe in the event that your computer is stolen, lost, or damaged. The information is backed up in a secure location on the internet, as well as on your computer. This is a great feature not only for the purpose of preserving the longevity of your files, but also to keep unwanted eyes off your sensitive information.
