Trend Micro has some good features to add to their already stellar arsenal of internet security tools. One of the most important is their data theft prevention setting which prevents the transmission of personal information such as credit card and banking numbers to the internet without the user’s approval. You do this by pre-approving certain sites, and blocking other sites. A Toolbar feature can also encrypt these sensitive items for added security.
Trend Micro also offers good parental controls; not amazing, but definitely not lacking in the essentials. With this program you can prevent specific websites or website categories from being accessed by anyone who does not know a specific password. You can also limit internet usage to a specific time frame and block anyone from sending sensitive information such as credit card or bank numbers to Websites.
To ensure your mobile device is just as secure as your computer, Trend Micro offers a mobile security feature. This is a great tool, especially in light of the surging advancements being made to mobile phones, many of which can perform the essential tasks traditionally expected from a PC. This feature scans your mobile device for viruses and repeatedly receives security updates.
We found Trend Micro to be an extremely easy program to use. The home page is broken down into five sections which are clearly labeled. Between these five sections every aspect of internet security is covered in a clear, effective format. We especially liked how visually appealing the program is. From the simplicity of the buttons to the lack of unneeded text, we had no trouble navigating through this program.
Like most Internet security systems, the current status of your PC is presented at the top of the home page. As well, you can see the last time your system was scanned or updated and a summary report. At a quick glance you’ll know the state of your computer.
Trend Micro offers plenty of avenues through which you can get technical and customer support. On their Website they have a knowledge data base, FAQs, email and phone numbers. We found their support representatives to be knowledgeable and friendly. Support is also offered directly through the software. In the top right corner of the program’s homepage there is a Help & Support button which has its own FAQ section, information about the product, information about recent viruses, and outlets through which you can contact support representatives.
Trend Micro covered all of the bases required for outstanding premium security suites. Although some of their features, such as the Backup and PC Utility Tools, were not as good as some of our top rated products, they were still present and performed well. The only qualm we had with this software is the lack of backup tools. Overall, Trend Micro Internet Security Pro is a good premium security suite that provides a good all-in-one solution for protection, performance optimization, and parental controls.
