Trend Micro Worry-Free will check IP addresses against Trend Micro’s database of known spam sources. Any e-mail originating from any of these sources is automatically deleted before it ever reaches your system.

The application Behavior Monitoring will monitor applications and activities and prevents unauthorized, harmful changes.

Another nice feature of Trend Micro is that the software is equipped to protect business computers from threats carried (intentionally or accidentally) on USB devices. Connecting USB jump drives or other devices to your business computers is common practice these days, but can pose big security issues. With Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security, you don’t have to ban external drives but won’t have to worry about problems.

Ease of Use:

We found Worry-Free Business Solutions to be easy to use. The user interface is easy to operate, even for less experienced administrators or small business owners. Settings were easy to access and manage.

Trend Micro is specifically engineered to significantly reduce administration requirements, and it does a pretty good job. The management console is even available in three forms: an at-a-glance interface with traffic light status, a standard Microsoft console, or an interface designed specifically for IT professionals.

Ease of Installation/Setup:

Installation was straightforward and simple. The installation wizard was clear in explaining procedures and processes. Once installed, the default settings were adequate for most small business needs, although we found that by default it doesn’t automatically scan all e-mail. A simple change after setup is required to change this setting.

Worry-Free Business Security is pretty flexible when it comes to business size. You can purchase licenses for as few as five or up to 100 users (for 1 or 2 years).

Help/Support:

Support options are above average with Trend Micro. In addition to e-mail and FAQ support there is also a getting started section and a how-to section on their Web site. You can also connect with a representative quickly with online chat. If you still like the old fashioned way of doing things, there is still phone support available as well.

Summary:

Trend Micro has created an easy-to-use yet effective security solution for small businesses. Although the standard edition has a decent feature set, it might be worth upgrading to their advanced Security Suite for additional protection, especially if you use Microsoft Exchange Server. Overall, Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security is a great small business internet security suite.
