TrustPort has all the basics of internet security covered. It can protect from all types of malware and includes parental controls, email protection, website monitoring, a dynamic firewall and more. They have passed recent VB 100% and West Coast Labs tests and they provide automatic updates.

Although TrustPort antivirus software has passed with two testing labs, AV-Test, AV-Comparatives and International Computer Security Association labs have not tested them. We looked for internet security suites that have passed all major tests. It matters little how easy a security application is to use or how attractive the interface is if it cannot protect. Though they have passed a few major tests, we would like to see them pass more in the future. Since they have passed 80 percent of their VB 100% tests, we anticipate that they will also pass AV-Test and AV-Comparatives tests in the future. We will keep an eye on TrustPort and include the passing of future tests should that occur.

The most significant problem we experienced with TrustPort involved the installation of the software. They offer a trial download of TrustPort Internet Security 2012 through their website. Though we attempted numerous times, on a few different machines, we could not get this internet security software to install correctly. This is a rare occurrence. All of the other products we tested installed completely and correctly via a download link. We also did not find the support information we needed to correct this problem and we found their support team unresponsive.

In terms of the modules that this internet security suite includes, it has tools for limiting your children's access to the internet as well as tools for managing port access, network access, email filters, a configurable firewall and more. This software can manage white and block lists and it includes an on-demand scanner as well as the ability to scan websites upon access. It can also scan audio and video files for malware. It does not include specific tools for encrypting chat conversations or protecting social media interactions. However, you can use the block lists to prevent your children's access to these types of sites.

TrustPort's headquarters are in the Czech Republic and this security suite is available in over 10 languages including: English, Dutch, Italian and Russian. You can contact them by telephone or email with customer or technical support questions. They provide basic customer support as well as paid support options. You can view user manuals, FAQs, definitions and tutorials on their website. Support is not offered 24/7 and the phone number to their support and sales team is not toll-free.

Summary:

Internet security is a competitive business. Though TrustPort has passed a few major tests, they will need to pass all key third-party tests and amp up their customer support to join the ranks of their major competitors. Even though TrustPort may prove to be a chief contender in the future, for now we recommend you consider one of our higher-ranking security products.

The Verdict
